Institute for Challenging Disorganization (ICD) Affiliation

The boards of directors of the National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM) and the Institute for Challenging Disorganization (formerly known as the National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization — NSGCD) are pleased to announced their newly created affiliation with the goal of leveraging resources and maximizing member benefits respectively.

The agreement was signed on September 24th, by Mary Kay Buysse, NASMM's Executive Director, and Katherine Trezise, Board President of ICD during their 2010 Annual Conference in Austin, Texas. The affiliation, which has no affect on the membership status of either NASMM or ICD members, is designed to raise awareness of the services that each organizations' members provide, while providing those members with access to defined resources and benefits.

The affiliation with NASMM marks the first time that ICD has created an organizational partnership with a group outside the traditional professional organizing field. ICD is also affiliated with the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) and Professional Organizers in Canada (POC). ICD President Kathy Trezise described the partnership with NASMM as a logical move that will further the missions of both organizations.

The affiliation with ICD is a perfect fit and formally acknowledges the desires of both associations to leverage resources and promote education, It also heralds a new chapter in NASMM history as NASMM continues to seek strategic alliances with associations that complement our mission and enhance the membership experience for our members.

Under the agreement, ICD and NASMM will trade marketing opportunities including newsletter advertising, exhibit space and educational session space at their annual conferences and both ICD and NASMM will offer discounts to each others members for conference participation.

According to Mary Kay Buysse, NASMM's Executive Director, "We are excited about our new partnership as it creates increased visibility and business referrals for NASMM members. It also presents tremendous educational opportunities to educate a separate industry about the benefits of using senior move managers, while providing our members with access to the high level education that ICD offers. Additionally, this affiliation also recognizes NASMM as the leading authority on the senior move management industry."
