1A Marketing's #1 Secret to More Sales – Social Proof

The quest for more sales is a never-ending effort in every business in every industry. We all seek that magical mystery trick that will deliver more results and revenues.

Guess what? A "magic" secret does exist. Fortunately, you don't need to invest in a new tool or spend your hard-earned $$$ on another empty promise. Maximizing social proof IS the solution.

Social proof creates a strong bond between you and the buyer. It's the tipping point between a buyer choosing you or your competition. When you incorporate social proof into your marketing, your adoption rates increase because buyers believe what you are saying. More importantly, they believe what your customers are saying. This connection creates trust, and inspires them to take action to hire you.

Our presenter will offer you real-life, tangible tips to help you implement social proof in your everyday marketing. Join us!

7A The Predicament of Possessions in Later Life

As life unfolds, our "things" tend to accumulate. Can older adults continue to accommodate households of belongings that were assembled for lives they no longer live? Inevitably, they will face a reckoning with their lifelong store of possessions — special, ordinary, and forgotten. Such a predicament now confronts tens of millions of Americans as the Baby Boom cohort passes into retirement and beyond. Based on research in over 130 Midwestern households, our presenter explores the meaning of things in later life and how, as a DIY matter, households approach and accomplish downsizing.

Faculty: David Ekerdt, PhD, University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS

13A 2020 Reflections: Adapting to a New Environment

Our presenter will discuss her reaction to the Covid-19 pandemic as a business owner and an employer. She will offer insights into how her SMM business adapted and overcame obstacles that occurred during a very tumultous year. This session is designed to stimulate growth and future development.

2B Turning Lemons into Lemonade: Successfully Leading Your Business Remotely

Despite not having a bricks and mortar business HQ prior to the Covid-19 crisis, our presenter made significant changes to her business as a result of the pandemic. She evaluated and changed processes to fit a “new normal.” Throughout the difficult spring and summer months of 2020, she discovered she could actually move out of state to live closer to family AND continue to successfully run her business remotely.

Our presenter will share how moving ownership of her business to a distanced model required more structure in processes, communication, and reinforcement of company values. She developed new roles and created a newly-coordinated management team. They formalized communication at every turn and much more.

Hear how this move management company actually grew in 2020 and increased its revenue by imagining new expansion opportunities and stretching to meet all-new goals. A global health crisis inspired this Midwestern move management company to thrive in entirely new and unexpected ways. Curious how our presenter and her team did it? Join us!

14B Creating Change One Word at a Time

Words matter. Elderly. Young lady. Facility. What words do you use to describe your move management business to prospective clients and their family members, senior living communities, and the media? Using universal language means understanding even the most innocent of terms can trigger profoundly negative reactions. All providers within aging services must strive for our language to connect us to the widest possible audience. Proactively employing universal language will increase our appeal to our target groups, as well as affirm the very persons we are choosing to serve.

3C Vertical Selling: Maximizing Your Community Relationships

To maximize our community relationships, we need to think more broadly and cast a wider net. Traditionally, we nurture our relationship with the sales office in order to receive referral business with new residents. So many other departments exist within our communities where we should be developing key relationships. These include finance offices, social workers, dining services, general services, front desk receptionists, and other levels of care. Building relationships with various departments will increase our business and thus, our revenue. Another signifcant benefit of developing these "extra" relationships is decreasing the risk of losing business when normal turnover hits the sales department.
