While a NASMM@HOME business does share some synergies with our Move Management menu, significant differences exist as well. Join this session and see if an expansion to NASMM @Home is a good fit for you.

16D Go Beyond Managing the Move for Higher Profits

COVID-19 changed everything! To simply survive in the move management industry in 2020, our presenter added moving services to her SMM business. The process of adding moving services was long, confusing, and daunting! She encountered roadblocks at every turn. Making a mistake along the way is costly, as you can incur substantial fines if you're not registered correctly or have proper insurance coverage and legal compliance. Join her if you're considering increasing your profits and expanding your opportunities by adding moving services to your existing move management business. She will tell you HOW!

5E Taming The Paper Monster

Despite all the hype about "going paperless," the reality is paper is not going away anytime soon. The good news is the digital world continues to create innovative solutions for eradicating paper. Forget “cheat sheets” and “guides” on what to toss and keep! These rules change all too often and who actually memorizes a list of guidelines? If your client is an older adult or has ADD or other cognitive impairments, organizing paper IS challenging. As a move manager and/or organizer, we can empower our clients to know what to act on, what to save or what to toss. This session will help us help our clients draw their own conclusions by asking a few simple questions. Our presenter will discuss the proven method she developed after years of working with people on their paper-clutter challenges — the ACT™ System. It's a simple system of support and accountability for paper management. Are you "all in" to learn something simple, effective and of value to your clients? Join us.

11E Building Your Business with Intentionality

Where will your business be in 10 years? That simple question used to terrify me. I lived my life week by week, and I couldn't project my business one year out, much less ten! Then I realized that we must dream before our dreams can come true. I began to thoughtfully consider, evaluate and imagine how I wanted my life to look in 10 years, and how my business would help me get there. In this session, I will lead you through this same exercize because — believe it or not — it works!

Faculty: Jeannine Bryant, Changing Spaces SRS, Lincoln, NE

17E What are the Climate Benefits of Reselling Goods Through Downsizing & Estate Sales?

The elephant in the room within the downsizing industry: Furniture waste is the number one least recycled household material in the US and Canada! MaxSold prides itself on being part of the solution — diverting hundreds of thousands of useable goods from landfills each year. Goods are resold, reused, and refurbished — often finding an extended life through new owners, while providing extra cash to the previous owner. In the fall of 2020, MaxSold began investigating and assessing how best to measure the climate benefits of reusing goods. Our presenter will outline the challenges of assessing the climate benefits of reselling goods; provide a methodology for doing so; argue the value of such an endeavor, and offer preliminary findings of the research conducted thus far. If you care even a little bit about the climate impact of what we do, this session is for you!

Faculty: Kate Morris, MaxSold, White Plains, NY

6F How COVID has Changed the Moving Industry

Our presenter will explore how Covid-19 has changed the moving industry and how van lines have navigated this new landscape. Hear about the changing patterns we’re observing in the United States as the pandemic has changed how and where people choose to live and work. Learn how Wheaton has used video surveys, alternative hauling methods, and non-traditional deliveries to move forward during this challenging time. Additionally, our presenter will discuss best practices to better serve our clients during a crisis.

Faculty: Todd Emrick, The Wheaton Group, Indianapolis, IN

12F Using the NASMM Code of Ethics as Your Guide

In the best of times, we face challenging decisions every day as move managers. This past year taught us life don’t always go as planned. The pandemic simply added to our piles of of split-second decisions, ethical tightropes, and staggering responsibilities. The good news is the NASMM Code of Etnhics is here to guide us through it all. The NECC will outline a variety of challenges and demonstrate how the COE provides a path to help us with the decisions we make each day.

Faculty: Marnie Dawson, Dawson Relocation Services, Chicago IL; Jennie Alwood, Here to Home, Inc.,Durham, NC; Charna Kinneberg, Senior Transitions, Inc., Abingdon, MD; Kathy Lovett, Cardinal Solutions, Baton Rouge, LA; Christine Smart, Designing Moves LLC, Marion, IA

18F Incorporating Real Estate for Profit & Simplicity

Real estate often accompanies our clients' downsizing activities. If move managers refer this task to real estate professionals, they are (quite literally) leaving money on the table. We're introducing another individual/company into the equation and adding a layer of complexity for the client. Improve our client experiences and increase our incomes by bringing it all together and extending our value proposition through real estate sales.

Faculty: Barry Gordon, Gordon's Downsizing & Estate Services Ltd.
