Older Adult Services Resources

The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research.
Their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

The AGS Foundation for Health in Aging a national non-profit organization established in 1999 by The American Geriatrics Society. They aim to build a bridge between the research and practice of Geriatrics and the Public, and to advocate on behalf of older adults and their special health care needs.

American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) and Services for the Aging (www.aahsa.org) help millions of individuals and their families every day through mission-driven, not-for-profit organizations dedicated to providing the services that people need, when they need them, in the place they call home. Our 5,700 member organizations, many of which have served their communities for generations, offer the continuum of aging services.

American Health Assistance Foundation is a non-profit organization that funds research into cures for Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration and glaucoma, and provides the public with information about risk factors, preventative lifestyles, available treatments and coping strategies.

Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) in communities across the country plan, coordinate and offer services that help older adults remain in their home - if that is their preference - aided by services such as Meals-on-Wheels, homemaker assistance and whatever else it may take to make independent living a viable option. By making a range of options available, AAAs make it possible for older individuals to choose the services and living arrangement that suit them best.

The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) is the largest national association exclusively dedicated to professionally operated assisted living communities for seniors. ALFA's member-driven programs promote business and operational excellence through national conferences, research, publications, and executive networks. ALFA works to influence public policy by advocating for informed choice, quality care, and accessibility for all Americans.

Children of Aging Parents is a nonprofit, charitable organization whose mission is to assist the nation's nearly 54 million caregivers of the elderly or chronically ill with reliable information, referrals and support, and to heighten public awareness that the health of the family caregivers is essential to ensure quality care of the nation's growing elderly population.

The Consumer Consortium on Assisted Living is the only national consumer education and advocacy organization focused on the needs, rights and protection of assisted living consumers, their caregivers & loved ones.

ElderLawAnswers supports seniors, their families and their attorneys in achieving their goals by providing information about crucial legal issues facing seniors; a network of highly qualified elder law attorneys nationwide; and online practice tools for elder law attorneys.

Faith in Action brings together volunteers from many faiths to work together to care for their neighbors who have long-term health needs.

Medicare Rights Center (MRC) is the largest independent source of health care information and assistance in the United States for people with Medicare. Founded in 1989, MRC helps older adults and people with disabilities get good, affordable health care.

National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers represents health and human services specialists who help families care for older relatives, while encouraging as much independence as possible.

The National Family Caregivers Association educates, supports, empowers and speaks up for the more than 50 million Americans who care for loved ones with a chronic illness or disability or the frailties of old age.

Society of Certified Senior Advisors educates professionals in the field of aging, awarding the CSA credential to those who successfully complete designation requirements.
